Jesus Christ, a famous evangelist from Heaven, made the following statement,
“… Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Gipsy Smith, a famous evangelist from England, added his twist,
“There are five Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the Christian, but most people never read the first four.”
Christian friends, enjoy the inner working of the Holy Spirit. Have a blast keeping step with the Spirit and experiencing him fruit you from within. Give thanks for your new heart and affections. Give thanks for the Spirit’s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. God has done and is doing good work, isn’t he?
And, as you are enjoying God’s internal working, respond to his sovereign initiative by externally worshiping God and showing gracious charity to your neighbors.
And, whenever possible, add God’s words to God’s works. Why would you allow people to come to the wrong conclusions? Why would you have them think you are that good, sharp, or holy in and of yourselves? Why would you hide the truth from them — that all they see is the glorious work of the Holy Spirit? Why would you give them the opportunity to praise your heart, your character, your work-ethic, your will, or your track-record?
Instead, lift high God and his Gospel, and this can only be done as you add words to works. Go ahead … brag on Jesus!
