Let’s All Take a Knee

The following has been completely plagiarized and slightly altered. However, I believe it is still very solid and worthy of your contemplation. The following “Word from the Lord” could change the way you honor the Lord’s Day, gather for worship, live throughout the week, vote in local elections, pray in your quiet place, love your neighbors, and love your country. America needs revival. You and I need revival. Please take a moment, read, meditate, pray, and respond appropriately. The Lord may not change our land, but perhaps today he will change you and me.

A Word from the Lord:

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord is speaking.

You are children I have I reared and brought up, but you have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s crib, but you not know me. You are my people, but you do not understand. Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly, you have forsaken the Lord, you have despised the Holy One of Israel, as a nation you are utterly estranged.

Why will you still be struck down?

Why will you continue to rebel?

Can you not see you desperate condition? Your whole head is sick, and your entire heart faint. From the sole of your foot all the way to the head, there is no soundness in you, only bruises, sores, and raw wounds. And these injuries are not cared for, treated, pressed out, bound up, or softened with oil.

Look, your country is falling apart; your cities are being ruined; in your very presence foreigners are devouring your land. Your country is desolate, it is being harmed by the nations.

Look at the people in your churches. They are being overrun and besieged.

Even now, the Lord has been longsuffering and gracious. If the Lord of hosts had not left us a few survivors, our entire nation would be as Sodom, and become like Gomorrah.

Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers, legislators, judges, and executives in the land!

Give ear to the teaching of our God, you citizens — you people of Gomorrah!

What to me is the multitude of your religious activities? I the Lord say this — I have had enough of your worship services, rites, rituals, and sacraments. I do not delight in your pomp and ceremony in any way. Who do you think you are, living as you do, and then dragging your dirt into my courts? If you are not going to repent, quit pretending to honor my day. Stop coming into my house, gathering as my people, and offering me your vain worship. Listen well; it is an abomination to me; I will not endure it much longer. Let me make myself even more clear — my soul hates your worship; it is a burden to me; I am weary of it. You come spread out your hands, sing and pray with many words, but I am not interested in communing with you in your proud condition. Your hands are full of blood.

However, I am not done with you. Listen to me now; even today I am still calling out to you. I love sinners, and you are sinful. Vain worshiper, what am I calling you to do?

Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean by trusting in the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Confess your sin afresh and enjoy communion with me.

Remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good. Endeavor to live in accordance with the Holy Spirit. Follow the will and model of the Son. Those who are clothed in My Son’s righteousness are pleasing to me, now walk in a pleasing manner.

Read my Word. Learn my principles, then seek justice, correct oppression, protect the most vulnerable, and care for the hurting. Bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. Pursue righteousness throughout the land. Encourage your leaders to legislate according to my wisdom. Vote differently.

Oh rebellious children, come on now! Let us reason together. Let us be most reasonable. Hear the Gospel one more time — Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be removed and you shall be white as snow. Though you be crimson red, you shall be like white wool.

And if you are willing and obedient, you shall eat well in my land. I bless any nation who loves my Law and Gospel.

But know this, if you continue to refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
