Is it Good News or is it Bad News?

Isaiah 14:24-27     The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand … For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

God is intentional; he decrees and plans all.

God is immutable; he changes not.

God is omniscient; he knows best; his first plan cannot be improved.

God is omnipresent; he sees all; nothing escapes his all-seeing eye.

God is omnipotent; he controls all; fierce winds, forces of wickedness, and free wills are all realities underneath his sovereign direction and usage.

Therefore, those things that God decrees, swears, ordains, plans, or purposes, they always come to fruition according to his sovereign and often mysterious will.

For those who humble themselves and hear his gracious words of salvation, this is the best of all news. He promises daily communion and eternal life to all who follow Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

For those who harden themselves and seek to take God on, this is the worst of all news. He promises daily discipline and eternal damnation to all who will not cherish, submit, and kiss the Son.
